Westfield Infant School, Hinckley

I had such a wonderful day today with the Year 2s at Westfield Infant School in Hinckley. It’s so rewarding to work with children who are excited, interested and who have been well prepared by their teachers to make the most of their experience of meeting an author. After performing Knock Knock Who’s There? to the whole school in assembly, I worked with individual Year 2 classes, using Shhh! to show them how a book is made from initial concept to finished copies. After that, I introduced them to my Ark Adventures series, where Noah encounters more than a few problems getting various animals onto the Ark! I left the children to come up with their own animal ideas and to think about the problems they might present. If the results are anything like the project work the Year 1s have done on Knock Knock Who’s There? – thank you for showing me – they’ll be well worth looking at.
